And when all the men of the tower of Shechem heard that, they entered into a stronghold of the house of the god Berith.

When all the leaders of the Tower of Shechem heard about it, they entered the inner chamber (stronghold) of the temple of El-berith (the god of a covenant).
And when all the men of the Tower of Shechem heard of it, they entered the stronghold of the house of El-berith [the god of Berith].
¶ And when all the men of the tower of Shechem heard that, they entered into an hold of the house of the god Berith.
When all the citizens of the Tower of Shechem heard, they entered the inner chamber of the temple of El-berith.

When all the leaders in the Tower of Shechem heard about this, they entered the side rooms in the El-berith temple.
When all the men in the fortress at Sh’khem heard about this, they took refuge in the stronghold of the temple of El-B’rit.
Earlier that day, the leaders of the temple of El Berith at Shechem had heard about the attack. So they went into the temple fortress,
And all the men of the tower of Shechem heard [that], and they entered into the stronghold of the house of the god Berith.
And when they who dwelt in the tower of Sichem had heard this, they went into the temple of their god Berith where they had made a covenant with him, and from thence the place had taken its name, and it was exceeding strong.
There were some people who lived at the Tower of Shechem. When they heard what had happened to Shechem, they gathered together in the safest room of the temple of the god El Berith.
The city's leaders who lived in the tower of Shechem heard the news. They went to hide in the strong building of El-berith's temple.
When all the citizens defending the citadel of Shechem realized what was happening, they went into the vault of the temple of El of the Covenant.

When the ·leaders [leading citizens; lords] who were in the Tower of Shechem [C either a nearby town or a structure within Shechem; v. 6] heard what had happened to Shechem, they gathered in the ·safest room [stronghold; inner chamber] of the temple of El Berith [9:4].
¶ And when all the men of the tower of Shechem heard it, they entered into an hold of the house of the god Berith.
All the citizens of Shechem’s Tower heard about it and went into the basement of the temple of El Berith.
When all the leading men in the fort at Shechem heard about this, they sought safety in the stronghold of the temple of Baal-of-the-Covenant.
When all the lords of the Tower of Shechem heard, they entered the inner chamber of the temple of El-berith.
The people who lived at the nearby Tower of Shechem heard what had happened to Shechem. So the leaders gathered in the safest room of the temple of the god Baal-of-the-Agreement.

Then all the lords of the tower of Shechem heard of it, and they entered the inner chamber of the temple of El-berith.
When all the lords of the tower of Shechem heard, they went to the vault of the temple of El-Berith.
The people at the nearby town of Migdal saw what was happening and took refuge in the fort next to the temple of Baal-berith.
When the leaders connected with Shechem’s Tower heard this, they went into the fortified God-of-the-Covenant temple. This was reported to Abimelech that the Shechem’s Tower bunch were gathered together. He and his troops climbed Mount Zalmon (Dark Mountain). Abimelech took his ax and chopped a bundle of firewood, picked it up, and put it on his shoulder. He said to his troops, “Do what you’ve seen me do, and quickly.” So each of his men cut his own bundle. They followed Abimelech, piled their bundles against the Tower fortifications, and set the whole structure on fire. Everyone in Shechem’s Tower died, about a thousand men and women.
When the leaders of the Tower of Shechem heard this, they entered the fortified temple of El-Berith.
All the citizens of Shechem’s Tower heard about it and went into the basement of the temple of El Berith.
When they heard of this, all the lords of the Migdal-shechem went into the crypt of the temple of El-berith.

When all the lords of the Tower of Shechem heard of it, they entered the stronghold of the temple of El-berith.

And when all the men of the tower of Shechem heard it, they entered into a stronghold of the house of the god Berith.
When all the people of the Tower of Shechem heard of it, they entered the stronghold of the house of El-be′rith.
When all the people of the Tower of Shechem heard of it, they entered the stronghold of the house of El-be′rith.
Now when all the lords of Shechem’s Tower heard about it, they went into the vault of the temple of El-berith.
When those leaders inside the tower of Shechem heard this news, all of them entered into the stronghold of the temple of El-berith.
When all the men of the tower of Shechem heard of it, they entered into the stronghold of the house of Elberith.
And when they, that dwelled in the tower of Shechem, had heard this, they entered into the temple of their god Berith, where they had made [a] bond of peace with him; and of that idol the place took the name, the which place was full strong. (And when they, who lived in the tower of Shechem, had heard this, they entered into the temple of their god Berith, where they had made a covenant with him; and that place took the name of that idol, and it was well-fortified.)
And all the masters of the tower of Shechem hear, and go in unto the high place of the house of the god Berith,
