They whined like spoiled children, “Why can’t God give us a decent meal in this desert? Sure, he struck the rock and the water flowed, creeks cascaded from the rock. But how about some fresh-baked bread? How about a nice cut of meat?”
They tested God in their heart by demanding the food that they craved.
They deliberately tested Elohim by demanding the food they craved.
They tested God in their hearts, demanding the food they craved.
And in their heart they put God to the test By asking for food that suited their taste.
And in their heart they put God to the test By asking food according to their desire.
They tested God’s patience by demanding the food they craved.

They willfully challenged God by asking for food to satisfy their appetite.
They were stubborn and tested God. They ordered him to give them the food they wanted.
