I also made sackcloth my garment, and I became a proverb to them.
When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword unto them.
When I made sackcloth my clothing [as one in mourning], I became a byword [a mere object of scorn] to them.
When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword (an object of scorn) to them.
I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.
I wore sackcloth as my clothing, and I was a joke to them.

When I wore funeral clothes, people made fun of me.
I weep bitterly, and I fast, but that too occasions insults.
They sneered at me for wearing sackcloth to show my sorrow.
And I made sackcloth my garment: then I became a proverb to them.

When I wear rough clothes to show that I am sad, people laugh at me.
When I wore sackcloth as my clothing, I was a joke to them.

When I humbled my spirit with fasting, this led only to scorn.
When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a proverb to them.
When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword to them.
When I mortified myself with fasting, I exposed myself to scorn.
When I wear clothes of sadness, they joke about me.
I wear sackcloth and they ridicule me.
When I put on rough clothing to show how sad I am, people make jokes about me.

I also made sackcloth my garment; I became a byword to them.
When I put on clothes made from hair, they made fun of me.
When I dress in burlap to show sorrow, they make fun of me.
When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword to them.

And I putted (for) my cloth an hair-shirt; and I am made to them into a parable. (I had a hair-shirt for my cloak; and for that, I am made into their parable.)
And I make my clothing sackcloth, And I am to them for a simile.
