Let their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of the Lord persecute them.
Let their way be dark and slippery, And the angel of Jehovah pursuing them.
Let their way be dark and slippery, With the angel of the Lord pursuing and harassing them.
Let their way be through dark and slippery places, with the Angel of the Lord pursuing and afflicting them.
Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the Lord persecute them.

Let their path be dark and slippery— and let the Lord’s messenger be the one who does the chasing!

Make them run in the dark on a slippery road, as your angel chases them.

O Lord, thy mercy is in heaven, and thy truth reacheth, even to the clouds.
Make their road dark and slippery. Let the Lord’s angel chase them.
Make their way dark and dangerous, as the angel of the Lord chases after them.
May their path be dark and slippery. May an angel of the Lord pursue them.

When those thugs try to knife me in the back, make them look foolish. Frustrate all those who are plotting my downfall. Make them like cinders in a high wind, with God’s angel working the bellows. Make their road lightless and mud-slick, with God’s angel on their tails. Out of sheer cussedness they set a trap to catch me; for no good reason they dug a ditch to stop me. Surprise them with your ambush— catch them in the very trap they set, the disaster they planned for me.
May their way be dark and slippery, and may the angel of the Lord pursue them.
Let their path be dark and slippery as the Messenger of Yahweh pursues them.

Make their way unsure and dangerously dark, a gauntlet of gloom chased through the darkness by the Eternal’s messenger.
Let their way be dark and slippery, Yahweh’s angel pursuing them.
Their way be made darkness, and sliderness; and the angel of the Lord pursue them. (Let their way be made dark, and slippery; and may the angel of the Lord strike them down.)
