He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks,

Suddenly he [yields and] follows her reluctantly like an ox moving to the slaughter, like one in fetters going to the correction [to be given] to a fool or like a dog enticed by food to the muzzle
He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
He follows her impulsively like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer bounding toward a trap

At once he follows her like an ox on its way to be slaughtered; like a fool to be punished in the stocks;

He followed her as an ox going to the butcher or as a stag that is trapped,
Soon she has him eating out of her hand, bewitched by her honeyed speech. Before you know it, he’s trotting behind her, like a calf led to the butcher shop, Like a stag lured into ambush and then shot with an arrow, Like a bird flying into a net not knowing that its flying life is over.

Bemused, he followed her, like an ox being led to the slaughter, like a stag stepping into a noose,
All at once he followed her, like an ox led to the butcher, like a deer caught in a trap
Suddenly he was going after her like an ox that goes to the slaughter, like a stag prancing into a trapper’s snare

Anon he as an ox led to slain sacrifice followeth her, and as a jolly lamb and unknowing; and the fool knoweth not, that he is drawn to bonds, (And so at once he followeth her, like an ox led away to be slain for the offering, and like a jolly, and unknowing, lamb; and the fool knoweth not, that he is drawn into bonds,)
He is going after her straightway, As an ox unto the slaughter he cometh, And as a fetter unto the chastisement of a fool,
