As the refining pot for silver and the furnace for gold, so is a man tried by praise.
The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold; And a man is tried by his praise.
The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold [to separate the impurities of the metal], And each is tested by the praise given to him [and his response to it, whether humble or proud].
As the refining pot for silver and the furnace for gold [bring forth all the impurities of the metal], so let a man be in his trial of praise [ridding himself of all that is base or insincere; for a man is judged by what he praises and of what he boasts].
As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.
As a crucible refines silver, and a smelter refines gold, so a person should refine his praise.
A crucible is for silver and a furnace for gold; so are people in the presence of someone who praises them.
The crucible [tests] silver, and the furnace [tests] gold, but a person [is tested] by [his reaction to] praise.
Gold and silver are tested in a red-hot furnace, but we are tested by praise.
The fining-pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold; so let a man be to the mouth that praiseth him.
As silver is tried in the fining-pot and gold in the furnace: so a man is tried by the mouth of him that praiseth. The heart of the wicked seeketh after evils, but the righteous heart seeketh after knowledge.
People use fire to purify gold and silver. In the same way, you are tested by the praise people give you.
You need a hot fire to see if silver and gold are pure. In the same way, when people praise you, they can see what you are really like.
A crucible is for refining silver and a smelter is for gold, and a person is tested by his praise.
The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and a man is tested by his praise.

A ·hot furnace tests silver and gold [crucible for silver and a furnace for gold], and people ·are tested by the praise they receive [L in the presence of those who praise them].
As is the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold, so is every man according to his dignity.
The crucible is for refining silver and the smelter for gold, but a person ⌞is tested⌟ by the praise given to him.
Fire tests gold and silver; a person's reputation can also be tested.

A hot furnace tests silver and gold. And people are tested by the praise they receive.
As the crucible tests silver, and the furnace assays gold; so praise received tests a man.
¶ As the fining pot tries the silver and the furnace the gold; so the man is tried by the mouth of whoever praises him.
As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.
As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.
The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, And each is tested by the mouth that praises him.
A crucible is for the silver, and a furnace for the gold, but a man is tested by the mouth of him who praises him.
The purity of silver and gold can be tested in a crucible, but a man is tested by his reaction to men’s praise.
The purity of silver and gold is tested by putting them in the fire; The purity of human hearts is tested by giving them a little fame.
As the refining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold, so is a man to his praise.
The crucible is for refining silver and the smelter for gold, but a person is tested by the praise given to him.
The crucible for silver, the furnace for gold, so you must assay the praise you receive.
The crucible is for silver and the furnace for gold, And each is tested by the praise accorded him.
The crucible is for silver and the furnace for gold, And each is tested by the praise accorded him.
As silver is tested by a crucible and gold by a furnace, so too is a man tested by the praise he is given.
A hot furnace tests silver and gold, and people are tested by the praise they receive.
As the crucible is for silver and the furnace is for gold, so a person must put his praise to the test.
