Conscript 1,000 men from each tribe.” So this was done; and out of the many thousands of Israel, 12,000 armed men were sent to battle by Moses.
Moses addressed the people: “Recruit men for a campaign against Midian, to exact God’s vengeance on Midian, a thousand from each tribe of Israel to go to war.”
A thousand from each tribe, throughout all the tribes of Israel, you will send to the war.”

Of every matteh a thousand, throughout kol mattot Yisroel, shall ye send to war.

Send into the battle 1,000 men from each of the tribes of Israel.”
Moses (to the Israelites): Get yourselves ready for war. From among your men, select 1,000 from each of Israel’s tribes. Arm them, and send them out to fulfill God’s desire to make the Midianites pay for their treachery. So it was that 12,000 Israelite men went off to war.
You shall send one thousand out of every tribe, throughout all the tribes of Israel, to the war.”
(Out) Of each lineage be chosen a thousand men of Israel, that shall be sent (in)to battle.
