Therefore, in vain do they worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.’
But in vain do they worship me, Teaching as their doctrines the precepts of men.
‘They worship Me in vain [their worship is meaningless and worthless, a pretense], Teaching the precepts of men as doctrines [giving their traditions equal weight with the Scriptures].’
In vain (fruitlessly and without profit) do they worship Me, ordering and teaching [to be obeyed] as doctrines the commandments and precepts of men.
Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
They worship me in vain, teaching as doctrines human commands.
They worship me in vain, teaching as doctrines human commands.
Their worship of me is empty since they teach instructions that are human words.
Their worship of me is useless, because they teach man-made rules as if they were doctrines.’
It is useless for you to worship me, when you teach rules made up by humans.”
But in vain do they worship me, teaching [as their] teachings commandments of men.
But they are worshiping Me in-vain, teaching as teachings the commandments of humans’.
And in vain do they worship me, teaching doctrines and precepts of men.
Their worship of me is worthless. The things they teach are only human rules.’
They say that I am great. But what they say has no purpose. They teach their own rules, which I did not give to them.” ’
They worship me in vain, teaching human rules as if they were doctrines.

Their worship of me is ·worthless [futile; in vain]. The things they teach are nothing but human ·rules [commandments; Is. 29:13].’

Their worship of me is pointless, because their teachings are rules made by humans.’
It is no use for them to worship me, because they teach human rules as though they were my laws!’
They worship Me in vain, teaching as doctrines the commands of men.
Their worship of me is worthless. The things they teach are nothing but human rules they have memorized.’ Isaiah 29:13

Jesus replied, “You hypocrites, Isaiah described you beautifully when he wrote—‘This people honours me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. And in vain they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men’. You are so busy holding on to the traditions of men that you let go the commandment of God!”

Jesus replied, “You bunch of hypocrites! Isaiah the prophet described you very well when he said, ‘These people speak very prettily about the Lord but they have no love for him at all. Their worship is a farce, for they claim that God commands the people to obey their petty rules.’ How right Isaiah was!
Jesus answered, “Isaiah was right about frauds like you, hit the bull’s-eye in fact: These people make a big show of saying the right thing, but their heart isn’t in it. They act like they are worshiping me, but they don’t mean it. They just use me as a cover for teaching whatever suits their fancy, Ditching God’s command and taking up the latest fads.”

Their worship is empty, void of true devotion. They teach a human commandment, memorized and practiced by rote.
They worship me in vain, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’
esus said to them, `Isaiah spoke the truth about you people! You are not true to yourselves! He wrote about you this way: "These people respect me with their mouths. But their hearts are far from me. They do not mean it in their hearts when they worship me. Their teachings are only words of men."
