for on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord.

Because on this day, the priest will do this to make you pure and wash away your sins. Then you will be clean to the Lord.
This day will make them clean from all their sins. The Lord will see them as clean people. This will be the Day of Atonement.
For on this day atonement will be made on your behalf to cleanse you. You will become clean from all your sins in the presence of the Lord.

“This is a permanent law: You must do no work on the twenty-fifth day of September, but must spend the day in self-examination and humility. This applies whether you are born in the land or are a foreigner living among the people of Israel; for this is the day commemorating the atonement, cleansing you in the Lord’s eyes from all of your sins.
“This is standard practice for you, a perpetual ordinance. On the tenth day of the seventh month, both the citizen and the foreigner living with you are to enter into a solemn fast and refrain from all work, because on this day atonement will be made for you, to cleanse you. In the presence of God you will be made clean of all your sins. It is a Sabbath of all Sabbaths. You must fast. It is a perpetual ordinance.

The delivering from sin, and the cleansing of you, shall be in this day (shall be on this day), (and) ye shall be cleansed before the Lord from all your sins;
