But as for the cities built on their tels, Isra’el burned none of them except Hatzor; Y’hoshua did burn that one.
Joshua captured all the towns where the enemy kings had ruled. These towns were built on small hills, and Joshua did not set fire to any of these towns, except Hazor. The Israelites kept the animals and everything of value from these towns, but they killed everyone who lived in them, including their kings. That's what the Lord had told his servant Moses to do, that's what Moses had told Joshua to do, and that's exactly what Joshua did.
Only, all the cities that stood still upon their hills Israel did not burn, save Hazor alone, [which] Joshua burned.
Except the cities that were on hills and high places, the rest Israel burned: only Asor that was very strong he consumed with fire.
But the army of Israel did not burn any cities that were built on hills. The only city built on a hill that they burned was Hazor. This is the city Joshua burned.
But the Israelites did not burn the cities that were built on small hills. Hazor was the only city like that which Joshua did burn.
But none of the cities standing on their mounds were burned by Israel—except that Joshua did burn Hazor.

But the Israelites did not burn any cities that were built on their mounds [C so Israel could immediately occupy these strategically important cities; Deut. 6:10–11], except Hazor; only that city was burned by Joshua.

Joshua captured and massacred all the royal towns with their kings, the holy curse commanded by Moses the servant of God. But Israel didn’t burn the cities that were built on mounds, except for Hazor—Joshua did burn down Hazor. The People of Israel plundered all the loot, including the cattle, from these towns for themselves. But they killed the people—total destruction. They left nothing human that breathed.
However, Israel did not burn any of the cities that stood on mounds except Hazor. Joshua burned it.

But Hazor was the only city Joshua burned to the ground of the cities built up on hills.

without [the] cities that were set in the great hills, and in [the] little hills; and Israel burnt (not) the other cities; flame wasted only one city, Hazor, the strongest. (but the men of Israel did not burn down the cities that were set in the great hills, or in the little hills; their fire burned down only one city, Hazor, the strongest.)
Only, all the cities which are standing by their hill, Israel hath not burned them, save Hazor only, [it] hath Joshua burnt;
