The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered; he openeth his eyes, and he is not.
He lieth down rich, but he shall not be gathered to his fathers; He openeth his eyes, and he is not.
“He lies down rich, but never will again; He opens his eyes, and it is gone.
[The wicked] will lie down rich, but does it not again; he opens his eyes, and [his wealth] is gone.
The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he is not.
He lies down wealthy, but will do so no more; when he opens his eyes, it is gone.
He lies down wealthy, but will do so no more; when he opens his eyes, it is gone.
They lie down rich, but no longer; open their eyes, but it’s missing.
He may lie down rich, but his wealth yields nothing; when he opens his eyes, it isn’t there.
Those sinners may go to bed rich, but they will wake up poor.

The rich man when he shall sleep shall take away nothing with him: he shall open his eyes and find nothing.
They might be rich when they go to bed, but when they open their eyes, all their riches will be gone.
Their riches quickly disappear. They are rich when they go to sleep, but poor when they wake up.
He goes to bed as a rich man, but his wealth does not remain. He opens his eyes, and it is all gone.
He goes to bed rich, but will do so no more; he opens his eyes, and his wealth is gone.

·The wicked are rich when they go to bed [L They may lie down wealthy], but ·they are rich for the last time [L not again]; when they open their eyes, everything is gone.

One last time they will lie down rich, and when they wake up, they will find their wealth gone.
He lies down wealthy, but will do so no more; when he opens his eyes, it is gone.
The evil person is rich when he goes to bed, but he is rich for the last time. When he opens his eyes, everything is gone.
He will go to bed wealthy, but won’t be doing that anymore! When he opens his eyes, it will be gone!

“He goes to bed rich but wakes up to find that all his wealth is gone.
“I’ll quote your own words back to you: “‘This is how God treats the wicked, this is what evil people can expect from God Almighty: Their children—all of them—will die violent deaths; they’ll never have enough bread to put on the table. They’ll be wiped out by the plague, and none of the widows will shed a tear when they’re gone. Even if they make a lot of money and are resplendent in the latest fashions, It’s the good who will end up wearing the clothes and the decent who will divide up the money. They build elaborate houses that won’t survive a single winter. They go to bed wealthy and wake up poor. Terrors pour in on them like flash floods— a tornado snatches them away in the middle of the night, A cyclone sweeps them up—gone! Not a trace of them left, not even a footprint. Catastrophes relentlessly pursue them; they run this way and that, but there’s no place to hide— Pummeled by the weather, blown to smithereens by the storm.’”

He goes to bed a man of wealth for the final time; he opens his eyes to find that it is all gone.

Sinful people lie down wealthy, but their wealth is taken away. When they open their eyes, everything is gone.
