We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold, trouble!

We waited for peace and salvation, but no good came, And for a time of healing, but behold, terror!
We looked for peace and completeness, but no good came, and for a time of healing, but behold, dismay, trouble, and terror!

We longed for relief, but received none; for a time of healing, but found only terror.
When we look for peace, nothing good comes; when we seek a time of healing, instead there is terror.”

Peace is looked for, and there is no good; a time of healing, and behold, terror.

So why are we sitting here, doing nothing? Let’s get organized. Let’s go to the big city and at least die fighting. We’ve gotten God’s ultimatum: We’re damned if we do and damned if we don’t— damned because of our sin against him. We hoped things would turn out for the best, but it didn’t happen that way. We were waiting around for healing— and terror showed up! From Dan at the northern borders we hear the hooves of horses, Horses galloping, horses neighing. The ground shudders and quakes. They’re going to swallow up the whole country. Towns and people alike—fodder for war.
We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, but there was trouble!
We hoped for peace, but nothing good has happened. We hoped for a time of healing, but there’s only terror.
We wait for peace to no avail; for a time of healing, but terror comes instead.

We were counting on peace, but none came. We waited for a time of healing, but now all we have is terror.

We abided peace, and no good was; we abided time of medicine, and lo! dread is. (We waited for peace, but no good came; we waited for a time of respite, and lo! there is only fear.)
Looking for peace -- and there is no good, For a time of healing, and lo, terror.
