Idols are worthless, and anyone who worships them is a fool!
But they are one and all senseless and foolish; the teaching of vanities is a stock.
They shall be all proved together to be senseless and foolish: the doctrine of their vanity is wood.
All the people of the other nations are stupid and foolish. Their teachings come from worthless wooden statues.
The people of those nations are stupid and foolish. They think that wooden idols can teach them something!
They are stupid and foolish, because they are instructed by worthless idols made of wood.
They are both stupid and foolish; the instruction of idols is but wood!
They are both stupid and foolish; the instruction of idols is but wood!
Those wise people are stupid and foolish. Their ·teachings [instructions] come from ·worthless [meaningless; useless] ·wooden idols [L pieces of wood].
But altogether they dote, and are foolish: for the stock is a doctrine of vanity.
They are complete idiots. They learn nonsense from wooden idols.
All of them are stupid and foolish. What can they learn from wooden idols?
They are both stupid and foolish, instructed by worthless idols made of wood!
Those wise men are stupid and foolish. Their teachings come from worthless wooden idols.
Everyone is stupid and senseless. They follow worthless instruction from a piece of wood!
But they shall become altogether carnal and foolish. The stock is a doctrine of vanities.

All this is nothing compared to you, O God. You’re wondrously great, famously great. Who can fail to be impressed by you, King of the nations? It’s your very nature to be worshiped! Look far and wide among the elite of the nations. The best they can come up with is nothing compared to you. Stupidly, they line them up—a lineup of sticks, good for nothing but making smoke. Gilded with silver foil from Tarshish, covered with gold from Uphaz, Hung with violet and purple fabrics— no matter how fancy the sticks, they’re still sticks.
But they are altogether unthinking and foolish; the tree is a doctrine of vanities.
They are complete idiots. They learn nonsense from wooden idols.
One and all they are stupid and senseless, the instruction from nonentities—only wood!

But they are altogether dull-hearted and foolish; A wooden idol is a worthless doctrine.
They are all poor thinkers and foolish. What can they learn from a false god of wood?
People who worship idols are stupid and foolish. The things they worship are made of wood!

They are stupid fools for taking their cues from blocks of wood, as if that idol could lead them anywhere.
But they are together brutish and foolish, instructed by idols! It is just wood.
They shall be proved unwise and fools together; the teaching of their vanity is a tree. (They shall be proved altogether unwise and foolish; their empty and futile teaching is from a piece of wood.)
And in one they are brutish and foolish, An instruction of vanities [is] the tree itself.
