All the people know it, Efrayim and the inhabitants of Shomron. But they say in pride, in the arrogance of their hearts,
The Lord had warned the people of Israel,
The Lord sent a word unto Jacob, and it lighteth upon Israel.

The Lord gave a command against Jacob and someone in Israel fell.
The Lord God has spoken a message to warn Jacob's descendants, the kingdom of Israel.

The Lord has pronounced judgment on the kingdom of Israel, on the descendants of Jacob.

The Lord sent a message against the people of Jacob. That message says that God will judge Israel.
“The Lord has sent a plague against Jacob, and it will fall on Israel;
¶ The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it has lighted upon Israel.

The Lord sends a message against Jacob, And it falls on Israel.
The Lord has sent out a word against Jacob, and it fell on Israel.
The Lord has spoken out against that braggart Israel who says that though our land lies in ruins now, we will rebuild it better than before. The sycamore trees are cut down, but we will replace them with cedars!
The Master sent a message against Jacob. It landed right on Israel’s doorstep. All the people soon heard the message, Ephraim and the citizens of Samaria. But they were a proud and arrogant bunch. They dismissed the message, saying, “Things aren’t that bad. We can handle anything that comes. If our buildings are knocked down, we’ll rebuild them bigger and finer. If our forests are cut down, we’ll replant them with finer trees.”
The Lord sent a word against Jacob, and it falls upon Israel.
Adonay sent a message against Jacob. The message is against Israel.
And all the people know it— Ephraim and those who dwell in Samaria— those who say in arrogance and pride of heart,

All the people were aware of this, Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, but they said in their arrogance and pride of heart,
The Lord sent a message against the people of Jacob; it says that God will judge Israel.
The Lord decreed judgment on Jacob, and it fell on Israel.
The Lord has sent a message against Jacob’s people. He will punish Israel.
The Lord has sent a message against Jacob; it will fall on Israel.

The Lord has spoken out against Jacob; his judgment has fallen upon Israel.
