For it is [His prophets repeating over and over]: precept upon precept, precept upon precept, rule upon rule, rule upon rule; here a little, there a little.
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
“Law after law, law after law, line after line, line after line, a little here, a little there.”
It is “tsav letsav, tsav letsav; qav leqav, qav leqav,” a little of this, a little of that.
so that [one has to use nursery rhymes]? — Tzav la-tzav, tzav la-tzav, kav la-kav, kav la-kav z‘eir sham, z‘eir sham [Precept by precept, precept by precept, line by line, line by line, a little here, a little there].
You don't even listen— all you hear is senseless sound after senseless sound.
For [it is] precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, there a little. …
For command, command again; command, command again; expect, expect again; expect, expect again: a little there, a little there.
He speaks to us as though we were babies: “Saw lasaw saw lasaw Qaw laqaw qaw laqaw Ze’er sham ze’er sham.”
He teaches us one rule at a time, one line at a time. He says it several times, a little bit here, a little bit there.’
They say: Law by law, law by law, rule by rule, rule by rule, a little here, a little there.
For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little.”

A little lesson here, a little lesson there [L A little there, a little there].”

They speak utter nonsense.
He is trying to teach us letter by letter, line by line, lesson by lesson.”
For he says: “Law after law, law after law, line after line, line after line, a little here, a little there.”
So they make fun of the Lord’s prophet and say: “A command here, a command there. A rule here, a rule there. A lesson here, a lesson there.”
For it is: “Do this and do that, do this and do that, Line upon line, line upon line, a little here, a little there.”

“Is that so? And who do you think you are to teach us? Who are you to lord it over us? We’re not babies in diapers to be talked down to by such as you— ‘Da, da, da, da, blah, blah, blah, blah. That’s a good little girl, that’s a good little boy.’”
For He says, ‘Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little.’ ”
They speak utter nonsense.

Indeed, they will hear meaningless gibberish, senseless babbling, a syllable here, a syllable there.
Here is how he teaches. Do this and do that. There is a rule for this and a rule for that. Learn a little here and learn a little there.”
