When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning of grapes when the vintage is done.
For thus shall it be in the midst of the earth among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive-tree, as the gleanings when the vintage is done.
For so it will be in the midst of the earth among the peoples, As the shaking of an olive tree, As the gleanings when the grape harvest is over [and only a little of the fruit remains].
For so shall it be in the midst of the earth among the peoples, as the shaking and beating of an olive tree, or as the gleaning when the vintage is done [and only a small amount of the fruit remains].
¶ When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.
For this is how it will be on earth among the nations: like a harvested olive tree, like a gleaning after a grape harvest.
It will be like this in the central part of the land and among the peoples, like an olive tree that has been shaken, like remains from the grape harvest.
Around the earth, among the peoples, it will be as when beating an olive tree, as when gleaning the grapes at the end of the harvest.
Nations will be stripped bare, like olive trees or vineyards after the harvest season.
For so will it be in the midst of the land among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive-tree, as the grape-gleanings when the vintage is done.
For it shall be thus in the midst of the earth, in the midst of the people, as if a few olives, that remain, should be shaken out of the olive tree: or grapes, when the vintage is ended.
At harvest time, people knock olives from the trees. But a few olives are left in the trees. It will be like that in this land and among the nations.
This is what will happen among all the nations on the earth. Only a few people will remain, like a few olives that remain on a tree after the harvest. After people have picked the grapes off a vine, there are only a few that remain.
This is the way it will be among the peoples on earth: It will be like an olive tree after it has been picked over, like the gleanings left after the grape harvest.
For thus it shall be in the midst of the earth among the nations, as when an olive tree is beaten, as at the gleaning when the grape harvest is done.

This is what will happen all over the earth and to all the nations. The earth will be like an olive tree ·after the harvest [L when it is beaten; 17:6] or like the ·few grapes left on a vine [L gleanings] after harvest.
¶ Surely thus shall it be in the midst of the earth, among the people, as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the grapes when the vintage is ended.
That is the way it will be on earth among the nations. They will be like an olive tree which has been shaken or like what’s left after the grape harvest.
This is what will happen in every nation all over the world. It will be like the end of harvest, when the olives have been beaten off every tree and the last grapes picked from the vines.
For this is how it will be on earth among the nations: like a harvested olive tree, like a gleaning after a grape harvest.
This is what will happen all over the earth. This will happen to all the nations. The earth will be like an olive tree after the harvest. It will be like the few grapes left on a vine after harvest.
So it will be on the earth and among the nations— as when an olive tree is beaten, or as gleanings when the grape harvest has ended.”

Throughout the land the story is the same—only a remnant is left.
Earth is polluted by its very own people, who have broken its laws, Disrupted its order, violated the sacred and eternal covenant. Therefore a curse, like a cancer, ravages the earth. Its people pay the price of their sacrilege. They dwindle away, dying out one by one. No more wine, no more vineyards, no more songs or singers. The laughter of castanets is gone, the shouts of celebrants, gone, the laughter of fiddles, gone. No more parties with toasts of champagne. Serious drinkers gag on their drinks. The chaotic cities are unlivable. Anarchy reigns. Every house is boarded up, condemned. People riot in the streets for wine, but the good times are gone forever— no more joy for this old world. The city is dead and deserted, bulldozed into piles of rubble. That’s the way it will be on this earth. This is the fate of all nations: An olive tree shaken clean of its olives, a grapevine picked clean of its grapes.
For thus it shall be in the midst of the earth among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning of grapes when the vintage is done.

This is what will happen all over the earth and to all the nations. The earth will be like an olive tree after the harvest or like the few grapes left on a vine after harvest.
This is what will happen throughout the earth, among the nations. It will be like when they beat an olive tree, and just a few olives are left at the end of the harvest.
That’s how it will be on the earth. And that’s how it will be among the nations. It will be as when workers knock all but a few olives off the trees. It will be like a vine that has only a few grapes left after the harvest.
So will it be on the earth and among the nations, as when an olive tree is beaten, or as when gleanings are left after the grape harvest.

For it will be so within the earth among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive tree, as the gleanings when the vintage is done.
For these things shall be in the midst of [the] earth, in the midst of (the) peoples, as if a few fruits of olive trees that be left be shaken off from the olive tree (like when the few fruits that be left on the olive trees be shaken off the trees), and (like the last of the) raisins, when the vintage is ended.
When thus it is in the heart of the land, In the midst of the peoples, As the compassing of the olive, As gleanings when harvest hath been finished,
