And here men who die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
And here men that die receive tithes; but there one, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
Furthermore, here [in the Levitical priesthood] tithes are received by men who are subject to death; but in that case [concerning Melchizedek], they are received by one of whom it is testified that he lives on [perpetually].

Moreover, in the case of the cohanim, the tenth is received by men who die; while in the case of Malki-Tzedek, it is received by someone who is testified to be still alive.
Priests are given a tenth of what people earn. But all priests die, except Melchizedek, and the Scriptures teach that he is alive.
And here dying men receive tithes; but there [one] of whom the witness is that he lives;
And here, dying men receive the tenths— yet there, it is being attested that he is living!
And here indeed, men that die, receive thithes: but there he hath witness, that he liveth.
Those priests get a tenth, but they are only men who live and then die. But Melchizedek, who got a tenth from Abraham, continues to live, as the Scriptures say.
The Levite priests receive gifts, and they are people who one day will die. Melchizedek also received gifts, but we are told that he continues to live.
In the one case, those who are mortal collect the tenth; in the other case, the one who collects has testimony in Scripture that he lives.
In the one case tithes are received by mortal men, but in the other case, by one of whom it is testified that he lives.

Mortal men collect tithes, but we are informed by Scripture that Melchizedek keeps on living.
Now notice the greatness of this man. Even Abraham the patriarch pays him a tribute of a tenth part of the spoils. Further, we know that, according to the Law, the descendants of Levi who accept the office of priest have the right to demand a “tenth” from the people, that is from their brothers, despite the fact that the latter are descendants of Abraham. But here we have one who is quite independent of Levitic ancestry taking a “tenth” from Abraham, and giving a blessing to Abraham, the holder of God’s promises! And no one can deny that the receiver of a blessing is inferior to the one who gives it. Again, in the one case it is mortal men who receive the “tenths”, and in the other is one who, we are assured, is alive. One might say that even Levi, the proper receiver of “tenths”, has paid his tenth to this man, for in a sense he already existed in the body of his father Abraham when Melchizedek met him.
In the same manner, here men that die take tithes; but there he received them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives.
And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

(c) The Jewish priests, though mortal, received tithes; but we are told that Melchizedek lives on.
Or look at it this way: We pay our tithes to priests who die, but Abraham paid tithes to a priest who, the Scripture says, “lives.” Ultimately you could even say that since Levi descended from Abraham, who paid tithes to Melchizedek, when we pay tithes to the priestly tribe of Levi they end up with Melchizedek.
In the one case mortal men receive tithes, but in the other he of whom it is witnessed that he is alive receives them.

Jewish religious leaders receive one-tenth part. They are men and they all die. But here Melchizedek received one-tenth part and is alive.
The priests who collect tithes are men who die, so Melchizedek is greater than they are, because we are told that he lives on.
And here, men who die receive tithes, but there, he receives tithes of whom it is witnessed that he lives.
In the one case, tithes are received by those who are mortal; in the other, by one of whom it is testified that he lives.

Notice, in one case, ma’aser are received by mortal men; in the other case, ma’aser are received by one of whom we have solemn eidus (testimony) that hu Chai ("he lives!").
And here, men who die receive tithes. But there, he who lives (about Whom it is witnessed).
Here tithes are received by mortal men; there, by one of whom it is testified that he lives.

In one case, dying men receive tithes; but in the other, one about whom it is testified that he lives on.
In the case of the priests descended from Levi, they are mortal men who receive a tithe of one-tenth; but the Scriptures record no death of Melchizedek, the one who received Abraham’s tithe.
Here people who die receive tithes, but there one receives tithes of whom it is testified that he lives.
Here, priests take their tenth, but they are people who will die one day. But Melchizedek, who took his tenth, never dies. The holy writings say it is so.
And here deadly men take tithes; but there he beareth witnessing, that he liveth. [And here soothly men dying take tithes; forsooth there it is witnessed, that he liveth.]
and here, indeed, men who die do receive tithes, and there [he], who is testified to that he was living,
