“Then they will sweep by like the wind and pass on. But they will be held guilty, They [and all men] whose own power and strength is their god.”

Then they will leave like the wind and go on to fight against other places. The only thing the Babylonians worship is their own strength.”
Their army quickly moves on to another place, like a wind that blows. They think that their own god has made them strong, and so they are guilty.’
But then the wind blows and passes over them, and they will bear their guilt—these men whose own strength is their god.
Then they sweep by like the wind and go on, guilty men, whose own might is their god!”

Then he shall become arrogant against God, and he shall pass ahead and shall be found guilty, imputing this his power unto his god.

“Look around at the godless nations. Look long and hard. Brace yourself for a shock. Something’s about to take place and you’re going to find it hard to believe. I’m about to raise up Babylonians to punish you, Babylonians, fierce and ferocious— World-conquering Babylon, grabbing up nations right and left, A dreadful and terrible people, making up its own rules as it goes. Their horses run like the wind, attack like bloodthirsty wolves. A stampede of galloping horses thunders out of nowhere. They descend like vultures circling in on carrion. They’re out to kill. Death is on their minds. They collect victims like squirrels gathering nuts. They mock kings, poke fun at generals, Spit on forts, and leave them in the dust. They’ll all be blown away by the wind. Brazen in sin, they call strength their god.”
Then their mind changes, and they transgress and commit offense; their own power is their god.
They will move quickly and pass through like the wind. So they will be guilty, because their own strength is their god.
Then they sweep through like the wind and vanish— they make their own strength their god!
Then they fly along like the wind and pass on. But they will be held guilty, They whose strength is their god.”
