And Her, the firstborn of Juda, was wicked in the sight of the Lord: and was slain by him.
But Er did many bad things. The Lord was not happy with him, so the Lord killed him.
But the Lord saw that Er, Judah's firstborn son, was very bad. So the Lord caused him to die.
It turned out that Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord, so the Lord killed him.
But Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord put him to death.

But Er, Judah’s ·oldest son [firstborn], did ·what the Lord said was evil [L evil in the eyes/sight of the Lord] so the Lord killed him.

Judah got a wife for Er, his firstborn. Her name was Tamar. But Judah’s firstborn, Er, grievously offended God and God took his life.

Er angered Yahweh. So Yahweh took away his life.
But Er, Judah’s firstborn, greatly offended the Lord; so the Lord took his life.

But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was a particularly wretched human being in the eyes of the Eternal One, and so the Eternal ended his life. Judah summoned his second son, Onan.
Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in Yahweh’s sight. So Yahweh killed him.
And Er, the first begotten son of Judah, was wayward in the sight of the Lord, and therefore he was slain of the Lord (and so the Lord killed him).
and Er, Judah's first-born, is evil in the eyes of Jehovah, and Jehovah doth put him to death.
