There, beyond the Yarden, in the land of Mo’av, Moshe took it upon himself to expound this Torah and said:
This book contains the speeches that Moses made while Israel was in the land of Moab, camped near the town of Suph in the desert east of the Jordan River. The town of Paran was in one direction from their camp, and the towns of Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab were in the opposite direction. Earlier, Moses had defeated the Amorite King Sihon of Heshbon. Moses had also defeated King Og of Bashan, who used to live in Ashtaroth for part of the year and in Edrei for the rest of the year. Although it takes only eleven days to walk from Mount Sinai to Kadesh-Barnea by way of the Mount Seir Road, these speeches were not made until 40 years after Israel left Egypt. The Lord had given Moses his laws for the people of Israel. And on the first day of the eleventh month, Moses began explaining those laws by saying:
On this side the Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to unfold this law, saying,
Beyond the Jordan in the land of Moab. And Moses began to expound the law, and to say:
The Israelites were in Moab on the east side of the Jordan River when Moses began to explain what God had commanded:
Moses began to speak the Lord's message on the east side of the Jordan River, in Moab's country. This is what he said:
In the area east of the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses took on the task of explaining clearly this law as follows. This is what he said:
Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses undertook to explain this law, saying,

On the other side of the Jordan in the land of Moab Moses began to explain this law, saying:
This book records Moses’ address to the people of Israel when they were camped in the valley of the Arabah in the wilderness of Moab, east of the Jordan River. (Cities in the area included Suph, Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab.) The speech was given on February 15, forty years after the people of Israel left Mount Horeb—though it takes only eleven days to travel by foot from Mount Horeb to Kadesh-barnea, going by way of Mount Seir! At the time of this address, King Sihon of the Amorites had already been defeated at Heshbon, and King Og of Bashan had been defeated at Ashtaroth, near Edrei. Here, then, is Moses’ address to Israel, stating all the laws God had commanded him to pass on to them:
He said:
Across the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses began to declare this law, saying:
The Israelites were east of the Jordan River in Moab when Moses began to review God’s teachings. This is what he said:
Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses undertook to explain this law:

Now the Israelites were east of the Jordan River in the land of Moab, and there Moses began to explain what God had commanded. He said:
So it was in the Transjordan, in Moab, that Moses began to deliver these words:
The people were east of the Jordan River in the territory of Moab. There Moses began to explain the law. Here is what he said.

beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, hath Moses begun to explain this law, saying:
