Thus the whole nation, both Judah and Israel, understood from David’s actions that he was in no way responsible for Abner’s death.
They all came then to David, trying to get him to eat something before dark. But David solemnly swore, “I’ll not so much as taste a piece of bread, or anything else for that matter, before sunset, so help me God!” Everyone at the funeral took notice—and liked what they saw. In fact everything the king did was applauded by the people. It was clear to everyone that day, including all Israel, that the king had nothing to do with the death of Abner son of Ner.
That very day, all of the people, all of Israel, understood that it was not ordered from the king to have Abner the son of Ner killed.
That day all the people of Israel knew the king wasn’t responsible for killing Ner’s son Abner.
So on that day all the people and all Israel came to know that it was not the king’s doing that Abner, son of Ner, was put to death.
So all the people and all Israel understood on that day that it had not been the desire of the king to put Abner the son of Ner to death.
So all the people and all Israel understood that day that it had not been the will of the king to put Abner the son of Ner to death.
Therefore, on that day the people and all Israel were fully convinced that the king had no part in the killing of Abner, the son of Ner.
That day all the people of Judah and Israel understood that David did not order the killing of Abner son of Ner.
All the people and all Israel realized on that day that the killing of Abner son of Ner was not done at the king’s instigation.
So on that day all the people there and all the Israelites understood. They knew that the king didn’t have anything to do with the murder of Abner, the son of Ner.
So on that day all the people there and all Israel knew that the king had no part in the murder of Abner son of Ner.
