Now I’m certain that you will indeed become king, and that the kingship of Isra’el will be established in your hands.
Promise me with the Lord as your witness, that you won't wipe out my descendants. Let them live to keep my family name alive.
Swear now therefore to me by Jehovah, that thou wilt not cut off my seed after me, and that thou wilt not destroy my name out of my father's house.
And now as I know that thou shalt surely be king, and have the kingdom of Israel in thy hand:
Now make a promise to me with an oath using the Lord’s name. Promise that you will not kill my descendants, even after I die. Promise me that you will not erase my name from my father’s family.”
So promise me in the Lord's name that you will not kill any of my descendants. Please make sure that people do not forget my family's name.’
So swear to me now by the Lord that you will not cut off my descendants after me and that you will not destroy my name from my father’s house.”

When David had finished saying all this, Saul said, “Can this be the voice of my son David?” and he wept in loud sobs. “You’re the one in the right, not me,” he continued. “You’ve heaped good on me; I’ve dumped evil on you. And now you’ve done it again—treated me generously. God put me in your hands and you didn’t kill me. Why? When a man meets his enemy, does he send him down the road with a blessing? May God give you a bonus of blessings for what you’ve done for me today! I know now beyond doubt that you will rule as king. The kingdom of Israel is already in your grasp! Now promise me under God that you will not kill off my family or wipe my name off the books.”
Therefore swear to me now by the Lord that you will not cut off my descendants after me and that you will not destroy my name out of my father’s household.”

And now, since I know that you will certainly become king and that the kingship over Israel shall come into your possession,

Truly, now I know that the kingdom of Israel will be firmly placed in your hands.
Now swear to me by the Lord that you will not kill my descendants and that you won’t wipe out my name from my father’s family.”
So now swear to me in the Lord’s name that you will not kill my descendants after me or destroy my name from the house of my father.”
Now make a promise in the name of the Lord. Promise me that you won’t kill the children of my family. Also promise me that you won’t wipe out my name from my family line.”
