But that caused the Israelite people to do a very bad thing. They went to Bethel and to Dan to worship the gold cows.
This sin took hold, and the people traveled as far as Dan to worship.
Then this thing became a sin, for the people went as far as Dan to be before one.
Then this thing became a sin, for the people went as far as Dan to be before one.
This became a very great sin, because the people traveled as far as Dan [C in the north] to worship the calf there.
And this thing turned to sin: for the people went (because of the one) even to Dan.
Worshiping them became ⌞Israel’s⌟ sin. The people went as far as Dan to worship the one calf.
And so the people sinned, going to worship in Bethel and in Dan.
This led to sin; the people walked in procession before one of the calves all the way to Dan.
And this became a very great sin. The people traveled as far as Dan to worship the calf there.
Doing this was sinful, because the people traveled as far as Dan to appear before one of their idols.
And this became an occasion for sin, for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.

So the king came up with a plan: He made two golden calves. Then he announced, “It’s too much trouble for you to go to Jerusalem to worship. Look at these—the gods who brought you out of Egypt!” He put one calf in Bethel; the other he placed in Dan. This was blatant sin. Think of it—people traveling all the way to Dan to worship a calf!
This was a sin, for the people went to worship before the one, even all the way in Dan.
Worshiping them became Israel’s sin. The people went as far as Dan to worship the one calf.
This led to sin, because the people frequented these calves in Bethel and in Dan.
Now this thing became a sin, for the people went to worship before the one as far as Dan.

And this word was made to Israel into sin; for the people went into Dan, to worship the calf. (And this thing became a sin in Israel; and some people went all the way up to Dan to worship the calf there.)
