The king then answered the people harshly. He ignored the elders’ advice
and the king answered the people harshly. Abandoning the advice the older men had given him,
Rehoboam ignored the advice of the older advisors.
And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the advice of the old men which they had given him;
And the king answered the people roughly, leaving the counsel of the old men, which they had given him,
King Rehoboam did not listen to the advice from the older men, and he was rude to the people.
King Rehoboam spoke cruel words to the people. He did not agree to say what the older men had told him to say.
The king answered the people harshly, because he had rejected the advice which the old men had offered.
And the king answered the people harshly, and forsaking the counsel that the old men had given him,
And the king answered the people harshly, and forsaking the counsel that the old men had given him,
King Rehoboam spoke ·cruel [harsh] words to them, because he had ·rejected the advice [disregarded the counsel] the elders had given him.
And the king answered the people sharply, and left the old men’s counsel that they gave him,
The king answered the people harshly. He ignored the advice the older leaders gave him.
The king ignored the advice of the older men and spoke harshly to the people,
Then the king answered the people harshly. He rejected the advice the elders had given him
At that time King Rehoboam spoke cruel words to them. He did not listen to the advice that the elders had given him.
But the king gave the people a harsh response, because he was ignoring the counsel that his elders had given him.
And the king answered the people roughly and forsook the old men’s counsel that they gave him

Then the king answered all the people harshly, as he had rejected the advice of the old men that they had offered.
the new king answered them roughly. He ignored the old men’s advice and followed that of the young men;
Three days later Jeroboam and the people showed up, just as Rehoboam had directed when he said, “Give me three days to think it over, then come back.” The king’s answer was harsh and rude. He spurned the counsel of the elders and went with the advice of the younger set, “If you think life under my father was hard, you haven’t seen the half of it. My father thrashed you with whips; I’ll beat you bloody with chains!”

Then the king answered the people roughly, and rejected the advice which the elders had given him;
And the king was hard in his answer to them. For he turned away from the wise words the leaders had given him.
But Rehoboam spoke harshly to the people, for he rejected the advice of the older counselors
The king answered the people harshly. He disregarded the advice that the older men had given him

And HaMelech answered HaAm roughly, and forsook the atzat HaZekenim (counsel of the Elders) that they gave him;

So Rehoboam spoke to the people in a tyrannical tone and completely ignored the advice of the experienced elders.
The king answered the people roughly, and abandoned the counsel of the old men which they had given him,
And the king answered hard things to the people, while the counsel of [the] elder men was forsaken, that they had given to him;
And the king answereth the people sharply, and forsaketh the counsel of the elders which they counselled him,
