21 And as they were eating, He said, “(A)Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me.” 22 Being deeply grieved, they began saying to Him, each one: “Surely it is not I, Lord?” 23 And He answered, “(B)He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl is the one who will betray Me. 24 The Son of Man is going away (C)just as it is written about Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! (D)It would have been good [a]for that man if he had not been born.” 25 And (E)Judas, who was betraying Him, said, “Surely it is not I, (F)Rabbi?” Jesus *said to him, “(G)You have said it yourself.”
The Lord’s Supper Instituted
26 (H)Now while they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and [b](I)after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” 27 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; 28 for (J)this is My blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for (K)many for forgiveness of sins. 29 But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it with you, new, in My Father’s kingdom.”
30 (L)And after singing a [c]hymn, they went out to (M)the Mount of Olives.
31 Then Jesus *said to them, “You will all [d](N)fall away because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘(O)I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be (P)scattered.’ 32 But after I have been raised, (Q)I will go ahead of you to Galilee.” 33 But Peter replied to Him, “Even if they all [e]fall away because of You, I will never fall away!” 34 Jesus said to him, “(R)Truly I say to you that (S)this very night, before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” 35 Peter *said to Him, “(T)Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” All the disciples said the same thing as well.
The Garden of Gethsemane
36 (U)Then Jesus *came with them to a place called [f](V)Gethsemane, and *told His disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 And He took (W)Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with Him, and began to be grieved and distressed. 38 Then He *said to them, “(X)My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and (Y)keep watch with Me.”
39 And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let (Z)this cup pass from Me; (AA)yet not as I will, but as You will.” 40 And He *came to the disciples and *found them sleeping, and He *said to Peter, “So, you men could not (AB)keep watch with Me for one hour? 41 (AC)Keep watching and praying, so that you do not come into temptation; (AD)the spirit is [g]willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cup (AE)cannot pass away unless I drink from it, (AF)Your will be done.” 43 Again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more. 45 Then He *came to the disciples and *said to them, “[h]Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, (AG)the hour [i]is at hand and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Get up, let’s go; behold, the one who is betraying Me is near!”
Jesus’ Betrayal and Arrest
47 (AH)And while He was still speaking, behold, (AI)Judas, one of the twelve, came [j]accompanied by a large crowd with swords and clubs, who came from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48 Now he who was betraying Him gave them a sign previously, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the one; arrest Him.” 49 And immediately Judas went up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, (AJ)Rabbi!” and kissed Him. 50 But Jesus said to him, “(AK)Friend, do what you have come for.” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and arrested Him.
51 And behold, (AL)one of those who were with Jesus [k]reached and drew his (AM)sword, and struck the (AN)slave of the high priest and [l]cut off his ear. 52 Then Jesus *said to him, “Put your sword back into its place; for (AO)all those who take up the sword will perish by the sword. 53 Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve [m](AP)legions of (AQ)angels? 54 How then would (AR)the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way?”
55 At that time Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would against a man inciting a revolt? (AS)Every day I used to sit within the temple grounds teaching, and you did not arrest Me. 56 But all this has taken place so that (AT)the Scriptures of the prophets will be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left Him and fled.
Jesus before Caiaphas
57 (AU)Those who had arrested Jesus led Him away to (AV)Caiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together. 58 But (AW)Peter was following Him at a distance, as far as the (AX)courtyard of the high priest, and he came inside and sat down with the [n](AY)officers to see the outcome.
59 Now the chief priests and the entire [o](AZ)Council kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death. 60 They did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on (BA)two came forward, 61 and said, “This man stated, ‘(BB)I am able to destroy the [p]temple of God and to rebuild it [q]in three days.’” 62 The high priest stood up and said to Him, “Do You offer no answer for what these men are testifying against You?” 63 But (BC)Jesus kept silent. (BD)And the high priest said to Him, “I (BE)place You under oath by (BF)the living God, to tell us whether You are the [r]Christ, (BG)the Son of God.” 64 Jesus *said to him, “(BH)You have said it yourself. But I tell you, from now on you will see (BI)the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power, and (BJ)coming on the clouds of heaven.”
65 Then the high priest (BK)tore his [s]robes and said, “He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? See, you have now heard the blasphemy; 66 what do you think?” They answered, “(BL)He deserves death!”
67 (BM)Then they (BN)spit in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others [t]slapped Him, 68 and said, “(BO)Prophesy to us, You [u]Christ; who is the one who hit You?”
Peter’s Denials
69 (BP)Now Peter was sitting outside in the (BQ)courtyard, and a slave woman came to him and said, “You too were with Jesus the Galilean.” 70 But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you are talking about.” 71 When he had gone out to the gateway, another slave woman saw him and *said to those who were there, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.” 72 And again he denied it, with an oath: “I do not know the man.” 73 A little later the bystanders came up and said to Peter, “You really are one of them as well, (BR)since even the way you talk [v]gives you away.” 74 Then he began to curse and swear, “I do not know the man!” And immediately a rooster crowed. 75 And Peter remembered the statement that Jesus had [w]made: “(BS)Before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.

21 And while they were eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.”(A)
22 They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, “Surely you don’t mean me, Lord?”
23 Jesus replied, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me.(B) 24 The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him.(C) But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”
25 Then Judas, the one who would betray him,(D) said, “Surely you don’t mean me, Rabbi?”(E)
Jesus answered, “You have said so.”
26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it(F) and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(L)
31 Then Jesus told them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of me,(M) for it is written:
32 But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”(O)
33 Peter replied, “Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will.”
34 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.”(P)
35 But Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you,(Q) I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same.
Gethsemane(R)
36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee(S) along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow(T) to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”(U)
39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup(V) be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”(W)
40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me(X) for one hour?” he asked Peter. 41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.(Y) The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”(Z)
43 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. 44 So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.
45 Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour(AA) has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”
Jesus Arrested(AB)
47 While he was still speaking, Judas,(AC) one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people. 48 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him.” 49 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Greetings, Rabbi!”(AD) and kissed him.
50 Jesus replied, “Do what you came for, friend.”[c](AE)
Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him. 51 With that, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword,(AF) drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.(AG)
52 “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.(AH) 53 Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?(AI) 54 But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled(AJ) that say it must happen in this way?”
55 In that hour Jesus said to the crowd, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching,(AK) and you did not arrest me. 56 But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled.”(AL) Then all the disciples deserted him and fled.
Jesus Before the Sanhedrin(AM)
57 Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas(AN) the high priest, where the teachers of the law and the elders had assembled. 58 But Peter followed him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest.(AO) He entered and sat down with the guards(AP) to see the outcome.
59 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin(AQ) were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death. 60 But they did not find any, though many false witnesses(AR) came forward.
Finally two(AS) came forward 61 and declared, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”(AT)
62 Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” 63 But Jesus remained silent.(AU)
The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath(AV) by the living God:(AW) Tell us if you are the Messiah,(AX) the Son of God.”(AY)
64 “You have said so,”(AZ) Jesus replied. “But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One(BA) and coming on the clouds of heaven.”[d](BB)
65 Then the high priest tore his clothes(BC) and said, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the blasphemy. 66 What do you think?”
“He is worthy of death,”(BD) they answered.
67 Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists.(BE) Others slapped him 68 and said, “Prophesy to us, Messiah. Who hit you?”(BF)
Peter Disowns Jesus(BG)
69 Now Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him. “You also were with Jesus of Galilee,” she said.
70 But he denied it before them all. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said.
71 Then he went out to the gateway, where another servant girl saw him and said to the people there, “This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth.”
72 He denied it again, with an oath: “I don’t know the man!”
73 After a little while, those standing there went up to Peter and said, “Surely you are one of them; your accent gives you away.”
74 Then he began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know the man!”
Immediately a rooster crowed. 75 Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: “Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.”(BH) And he went outside and wept bitterly.

Betrayal and Arrest
43 (T)And immediately, while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, *came up, [t]accompanied by a crowd with swords and clubs who were from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders. 44 Now he who was betraying Him had given them a signal, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the one; arrest Him and lead Him away [u]under guard.” 45 And after coming, Judas immediately went to Him and *said, “(U)Rabbi!” and kissed Him. 46 And they laid hands on Him and arrested Him. 47 But one of those who stood by drew his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest and [v]cut off his ear. 48 And Jesus said to them, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me, as you would against a man inciting a revolt? 49 Every day I was with you (V)within the temple grounds teaching, and you did not arrest Me; but this has taken place so that the Scriptures will be fulfilled.” 50 And [w]His disciples all left Him and fled.
51 A young man was following Him, wearing nothing but a linen sheet over his naked body; and they *seized him. 52 But he [x]pulled free of the linen sheet and escaped naked.
Jesus before His Accusers
53 (W)They led Jesus away to the high priest; and all the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes *gathered together. 54 And Peter had followed Him at a distance, (X)right into (Y)the courtyard of the high priest; and he was sitting with the [y]officers and (Z)warming himself at the [z]fire. 55 Now the chief priests and the entire [aa](AA)Council were trying to obtain testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, and they were not finding any. 56 For many people were giving false testimony against Him, and so their testimonies were not consistent. 57 And then some stood up and began giving false testimony against Him, saying, 58 “We heard Him say, ‘(AB)I will destroy this [ab]temple that was made by hands, and in three days I will build another, made without hands.’” 59 And not even in this respect was their testimony consistent. 60 And then the high priest stood up and came forward and questioned Jesus, saying, “Do You not offer any answer for what these men are testifying against You?” 61 (AC)But He kept silent and did not offer any answer. (AD)Again the high priest was questioning Him, and *said to Him, “Are You the [ac]Christ, the Son of [ad]the Blessed One?” 62 And Jesus said, “I am; and you shall see (AE)the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power, and (AF)coming with the clouds of heaven.” 63 (AG)Tearing his clothes, the high priest *said, “What further need do we have of witnesses? 64 You have heard the (AH)blasphemy; how does it seem to you?” And they all condemned Him as deserving of death. 65 And some began to (AI)spit on Him, and [ae](AJ)to blindfold Him, and to beat Him with their fists and say to Him, “(AK)Prophesy!” Then the officers took custody of Him [af]and slapped Him in the face.
Peter’s Denials
66 (AL)And while Peter was below in (AM)the courtyard, one of the slave women of the high priest *came, 67 and seeing Peter (AN)warming himself, she looked at him and *said, “You were with Jesus the (AO)Nazarene as well.” 68 But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are talking about.” And he (AP)went out onto the [ag]porch.[ah] 69 The slave woman saw him, and began once more to say to the bystanders, “This man is one of them!” 70 But again (AQ)he denied it. And after a little while the bystanders were again saying to Peter, “You really are one of them, (AR)for you are a Galilean as well.” 71 But he began to [ai]curse himself and to swear, “I do not know this man of whom you speak!” 72 And immediately a rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had made the remark to him, “Before (AS)a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And [aj]he hurried on and began to weep.

37 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” he said to Peter, “are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour? 38 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.(T) The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”(U)
39 Once more he went away and prayed the same thing. 40 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. They did not know what to say to him.
41 Returning the third time, he said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour(V) has come. Look, the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”
Jesus Arrested(W)
43 Just as he was speaking, Judas,(X) one of the Twelve, appeared. With him was a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders.
44 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard.” 45 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Rabbi!”(Y) and kissed him. 46 The men seized Jesus and arrested him. 47 Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
48 “Am I leading a rebellion,” said Jesus, “that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? 49 Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts,(Z) and you did not arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled.”(AA) 50 Then everyone deserted him and fled.(AB)
51 A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, 52 he fled naked, leaving his garment behind.
Jesus Before the Sanhedrin(AC)(AD)
53 They took Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests, the elders and the teachers of the law came together. 54 Peter followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest.(AE) There he sat with the guards and warmed himself at the fire.(AF)
55 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin(AG) were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any. 56 Many testified falsely against him, but their statements did not agree.
57 Then some stood up and gave this false testimony against him: 58 “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with human hands and in three days will build another,(AH) not made with hands.’” 59 Yet even then their testimony did not agree.
60 Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.(AI)
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”(AJ)
62 “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”(AK)
63 The high priest tore his clothes.(AL) “Why do we need any more witnesses?” he asked. 64 “You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?”
They all condemned him as worthy of death.(AM) 65 Then some began to spit at him; they blindfolded him, struck him with their fists, and said, “Prophesy!” And the guards took him and beat him.(AN)
Peter Disowns Jesus(AO)
66 While Peter was below in the courtyard,(AP) one of the servant girls of the high priest came by. 67 When she saw Peter warming himself,(AQ) she looked closely at him.
“You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus,”(AR) she said.
68 But he denied it. “I don’t know or understand what you’re talking about,”(AS) he said, and went out into the entryway.[e]
69 When the servant girl saw him there, she said again to those standing around, “This fellow is one of them.” 70 Again he denied it.(AT)
After a little while, those standing near said to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.”(AU)
71 He began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know this man you’re talking about.”(AV)
72 Immediately the rooster crowed the second time.[f] Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows twice[g] you will disown me three times.”(AW) And he broke down and wept.

21 (A)But behold, the hand of the one betraying Me is with [a]Mine on the table. 22 For indeed, the Son of Man is going (B)as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!” 23 And they began to debate among themselves which one of them it was who was going to do this.
Who Is Greatest
24 And (C)a dispute also developed among them as to which one of them was regarded as being the greatest. 25 (D)And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles domineer over them; and those who have authority over them are called ‘Benefactors.’ 26 But it is not this way for you; (E)rather, the one who is the greatest among you must become like (F)the youngest, and the leader like the servant. 27 For (G)who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But (H)I am among you as the one who serves.
28 “You are the ones who have stood by Me in My (I)trials; 29 and just as My Father has granted Me a (J)kingdom, I grant you 30 that you may (K)eat and drink at My table in My (L)kingdom, and (M)you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

35 And He said to them, “(S)When I sent you out without money belt and bag and sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?” They said, “No, nothing.” 36 And He said to them, “But now, [g]whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and [h]whoever has no sword is to sell his [i]cloak and buy one. 37 For I tell you that this which is written must be fulfilled in Me: ‘(T)And He was counted with wrongdoers’; for (U)that which refers to Me has its [j]fulfillment.” 38 They said, “Lord, look, here are two (V)swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.”
The Garden of Gethsemane
39 (W)And He came out and went, (X)as was His habit, to (Y)the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him. 40 (Z)Now when He arrived at the place, He said to them, “(AA)Pray that you do not come into temptation.” 41 And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He (AB)knelt down and began to pray, 42 saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this (AC)cup from Me; (AD)yet not My will, but Yours be done.” 43 [[k]Now an (AE)angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him. 44 And (AF)being in agony, He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground]. 45 When He rose from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from sorrow, 46 and He said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Jesus Betrayed by Judas
47 (AH)While He was still speaking, behold, a crowd came, and the one called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading the way for them; and he approached Jesus to kiss Him. 48 But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” 49 When those who were around Him saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with the (AI)sword?” 50 And one of them struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his right ear. 51 But Jesus responded and said, “[l]Stop! No more of this.” And He touched his ear and healed him. 52 And Jesus said to the chief priests and (AJ)officers of the temple and elders who had come against Him, “Have you come out with swords and clubs (AK)as you would against a man inciting a revolt? 53 While I was with you daily in the temple, you did not lay hands on Me; but [m]this hour and the power of darkness are yours.”
Jesus’ Arrest
54 (AL)Now they arrested Him and led Him away, and brought Him to the house of the high priest; but (AM)Peter was following at a distance. 55 (AN)After they kindled a fire in the middle of (AO)the courtyard and sat down together, Peter was sitting among them. 56 And a slave woman, seeing him as he sat in the firelight, and staring at him, said, “This man was with Him as well.” 57 But he denied it, saying, “I do not know Him, woman!” 58 And a little later, (AP)another person saw him and said, “You are one of them too!” But Peter said, “Man, I am not!” 59 And after about an hour had passed, some other man began to insist, saying, “Certainly this man also was with Him, (AQ)for he, too, is a Galilean.” 60 But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about!” And immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed. 61 And then (AR)the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, “(AS)Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.” 62 And he went out and wept bitterly.
63 (AT)The men who were holding [n]Jesus in custody began mocking Him and beating Him, 64 and they blindfolded Him and repeatedly asked Him, saying, “(AU)Prophesy, who is the one who hit You?” 65 And they were saying many other things against Him, (AV)blaspheming.
Jesus before the Sanhedrin
66 (AW)When it was day, (AX)the [o]Council of elders of the people assembled, both chief priests and scribes, and they led Him away to their (AY)council chamber, saying, 67 “(AZ)If You are the [p]Christ, tell us.” But He said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe; 68 and if I ask a question, you will not answer. 69 (BA)But from now on (BB)the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.” 70 And they all said, “So You are (BC)the Son of God?” And He said to them, “(BD)You say correctly that I am.” 71 And then they said, “What further need do we have of testimony? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth!”

“Nothing,” they answered.
36 He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. 37 It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’[a];(Q) and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.”
38 The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.”
“That’s enough!” he replied.
Jesus Prays on the Mount of Olives(R)
39 Jesus went out as usual(S) to the Mount of Olives,(T) and his disciples followed him. 40 On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”(U) 41 He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down(V) and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup(W) from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”(X) 43 An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.(Y) 44 And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.[b]
45 When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. 46 “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”(Z)
Jesus Arrested(AA)

The Guards Mock Jesus(AM)

66 At daybreak the council(AR) of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and the teachers of the law, met together,(AS) and Jesus was led before them. 67 “If you are the Messiah,” they said, “tell us.”
Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe me, 68 and if I asked you, you would not answer.(AT) 69 But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.”(AU)
70 They all asked, “Are you then the Son of God?”(AV)
