² Let those who seek to kill me
be disgraced and confounded;
let those who wish me harm
be turned back and humiliated.
³ Let those who say, “Aha, aha!”
retreat because of their shame.^(C)

⁴ Let all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you;
let those who love your salvation
continually say, “God is great!” ^(D)
5 I am oppressed and needy;
hurry to me, God.
You are my help and my deliverer;
Lord, do not delay.^(E)

⁹ Don’t discard me in my old age.
As my strength fails, do not abandon me.^(O)
10 For my enemies talk about me,
and those who spy on me plot together,^(P)
11 saying, “God has abandoned him;
chase him and catch him,
for there is no one to rescue him.”^(Q)
12 God, do not be far from me;
my God, hurry to help me.^(R)
13 May my adversaries be disgraced and destroyed;
may those who intend to harm me
be covered with disgrace and humiliation.^(S)
14 But I will hope continually
and will praise you more and more.^(T)
15 My mouth will tell about your righteousness
and your salvation all day long,
though I cannot sum them up.^(U)
16 I come because of the mighty acts of the Lord God;
I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone.^(V)

¹⁷ God, you have taught me from my youth,
and I still proclaim your wondrous works.^(W)
18 Even while I am old and gray,
God, do not abandon me,^(X)
while I proclaim your power
to another generation,
your strength to all who are to come.^(Y)
19 Your righteousness reaches the heights, God,
you who have done great things;
God, who is like you?^(Z)
20 You caused me to experience
many troubles and misfortunes,^(AA)
but you will revive me again.^(AB)
You will bring me up again,
even from the depths of the earth.^(AC)
21 You will increase my honor
and comfort me once again.^(AD)
22 Therefore, I will praise you with a harp
for your faithfulness, my God;
I will sing to you with a lyre,
Holy One of Israel.^(AE)
23 My lips will shout for joy
when I sing praise to you
because you have redeemed me.^(AF)
24 Therefore, my tongue will proclaim
your righteousness all day long,
for those who intend to harm me
will be disgraced and confounded.^(AG)

⁵ May they fear you^[b] while the sun endures
and as long as the moon, throughout all generations.^(AM)
6 May the king be like rain that falls on the cut grass,
like spring showers that water the earth.^(AN)
7 May the righteous^[c] flourish in his days
and well-being abound
until the moon is no more.^(AO)

⁸ May he rule from sea to sea
and from the Euphrates
to the ends of the earth.^(AP)
9 May desert tribes kneel before him
and his enemies lick the dust.^(AQ)
10 May the kings of Tarshish
and the coasts and islands bring tribute,
the kings of Sheba and Seba offer gifts.^(AR)
11 Let all kings bow in homage to him,
all nations serve him.^(AS)

¹² For he will rescue the poor who cry out
and the afflicted who have no helper.^(AT)
13 He will have pity on the poor and helpless
and save the lives of the poor.^(AU)
14 He will redeem them from oppression and violence,
for their lives are^[d] precious^[e] in his sight.^(AV)

¹⁵ May he live long!
May gold from Sheba be given to him.
May prayer be offered for him continually,
and may he be blessed all day long.^(AW)
16 May there be plenty of grain in the land;
may it wave on the tops of the mountains.
May its crops be like Lebanon.
May people flourish in the cities
like the grass of the field.^(AX)
17 May his name endure forever;
as long as the sun shines,
may his fame increase.
May all nations be blessed by him
and call him blessed.^(AY)

¹⁸ Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel,
who alone does wonders.^(AZ)
19 Blessed be his glorious name forever;
the whole earth is filled with his glory.^(BA)

⁴ They have an easy time until they die,^[f]
and their bodies are well fed.^[g](BG)
5 They are not in trouble like others;
they are not afflicted like most people.^(BH)
6 Therefore, pride is their necklace,
and violence covers them like a garment.^(BI)
7 Their eyes bulge out from fatness;
the imaginations of their hearts run wild.^(BJ)
8 They mock, and they speak maliciously;
they arrogantly threaten oppression.^(BK)
9 They set their mouths against heaven,
and their tongues strut across the earth.^(BL)
10 Therefore his people turn to them^[h]
and drink in their overflowing words.^[i](BM)
11 The wicked say, “How can God know?
Does the Most High know everything?” ^(BN)
12 Look at them—the wicked!
They are always at ease,
and they increase their wealth.^(BO)

¹³ Did I purify my heart
and wash my hands in innocence for nothing?^(BP)
14 For I am afflicted all day long
and punished every morning.^(BQ)
15 If I had decided to say these things aloud,
I would have betrayed your people.^[j](BR)
16 When I tried to understand all this,
it seemed hopeless^[k](BS)
17 until I entered God’s sanctuary.
Then I understood their destiny.^(BT)
18 Indeed, you put them in slippery places;
you make them fall into ruin.^(BU)
19 How suddenly they become a desolation!
They come to an end, swept away by terrors.^(BV)
20 Like one waking from a dream,
Lord, when arising, you will despise their image.^(BW)

²¹ When I became embittered
and my innermost being^[l] was wounded,^(BX)
22 I was stupid and didn’t understand;
I was an unthinking animal toward you.^(BY)
23 Yet I am always with you;
you hold my right hand.^(BZ)
24 You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me up in glory.^[m](CA)
25 Who do I have in heaven but you?
And I desire nothing on earth but you.^(CB)
26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength^[n] of my heart,
my portion forever.^(CC)
27 Those far from you will certainly perish;
you destroy all who are unfaithful to you.^(CD)
28 But as for me, God’s presence is my good.
I have made the Lord God my refuge,
so I can tell about all you do.^(CE)
