He said to Me, ‘You are (A)My Son,
Today I have fathered You.
8 Ask it of Me, and (B)I will certainly give (C)the [b]nations as Your inheritance,
And the (D)ends of the earth as Your possession.
9 You shall [c](E)break them with a [d]rod of iron,
You shall (F)shatter them like [e]earthenware.’”
10 Now then, you kings, (G)use insight;
Let yourselves be instructed, you [f]judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with [g](H)reverence
And rejoice with (I)trembling.
12 [h]Kiss (J)the Son, that He not be angry and you perish on the way,
For (K)His wrath may be kindled quickly.
How blessed are all who (L)take refuge in Him!

11 Serve the Lord with fear(K)
and celebrate his rule(L) with trembling.(M)
12 Kiss his son,(N) or he will be angry
and your way will lead to your destruction,
for his wrath(O) can flare up in a moment.
Blessed(P) are all who take refuge(Q) in him.

1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?(A)
Why are you so far(B) from saving me,
so far from my cries of anguish?(C)
2 My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,(D)

3 Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One;(F)

4 In you our ancestors put their trust;
they trusted and you delivered them.(H)

38 At that time two [d]rebels *were being crucified with Him, one on the right and one on the left. 39 And those passing by were [e]speaking abusively to Him, (F)shaking their heads, 40 and saying, “(G)You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! And (J)my guilt is not hidden from You.

Care of the Body of Jesus
31 Now then, since it was (G)the day of preparation, to prevent (H)the bodies from remaining on the cross on the Sabbath ([a]for that Sabbath was a (I)high day), the Jews requested of Pilate that their legs be broken, and the bodies be taken away. 32 So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first man, and of the other who was (J)crucified with Him; 33 but after they came to Jesus, when they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. 34 Yet one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately (K)blood and water came out. 35 And he who has seen has (L)testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you also may believe. 36 For these things took place (M)so that the Scripture would be fulfilled: “(N)Not a bone of Him shall be [b]broken.” 37 And again another Scripture says, “(O)They will look at Him whom they pierced.”

28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished,(B) and so that Scripture would be fulfilled,(C) Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar(D) was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.”(E) With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
31 Now it was the day of Preparation,(F) and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses(G) during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. 32 The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other.(H) 33 But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced(I) Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.(J) 35 The man who saw it(K) has given testimony, and his testimony is true.(L) He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe. 36 These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled:(M) “Not one of his bones will be broken,”[a](N) 37 and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.”[b](O)
The Burial of Jesus(P)
38 Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders.(Q) With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away. 39 He was accompanied by Nicodemus,(R) the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.[c] 40 Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen.(S) This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs.(T) 41 At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. 42 Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation(U) and since the tomb was nearby,(V) they laid Jesus there.

Of Solomon.
1 Endow the king with your justice,(A) O God,

4 May he defend the afflicted(C) among the people
and save the children of the needy;(D)

like showers watering the earth.

10 May the kings of Tarshish(L) and of distant shores(M)
bring tribute to him.
May the kings of Sheba(N) and Seba
present him gifts.(O)
11 May all kings bow down(P) to him
and all nations serve(Q) him.
12 For he will deliver the needy who cry out,
the afflicted who have no one to help.
13 He will take pity(R) on the weak and the needy
and save the needy from death.
14 He will rescue(S) them from oppression and violence,
for precious(T) is their blood in his sight.
15 Long may he live!
May gold from Sheba(U) be given him.
May people ever pray for him
and bless him all day long.(V)
16 May grain(W) abound throughout the land;
on the tops of the hills may it sway.
May the crops(X) flourish like Lebanon(Y)
