³³ Also, your sons will be shepherds in the wilderness for ^(A)forty years, and they will ^[a]suffer for your unfaithfulness, until your bodies perish in the wilderness.

^13 (A)So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness for forty years, until the entire generation of those who had done evil in the sight of the Lord came to an end.

⁷ For the Lord your God has blessed you in all ^[a]that you have done; He has known your ^[b]wandering through this ^(A)great wilderness. These ^(B)forty years the Lord your God has been with you; you have not lacked anything.”’

⁶ For the sons of Israel walked ^(A)forty years in the wilderness, until all the nation, that is, the men of war who came out of Egypt, ^[a]perished because they did not listen to the voice of the Lord, ^(B)to whom the Lord had sworn that He would not let them see the land which the Lord had sworn to their fathers to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
