³ So Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran at the ^[a]command of the Lord, all of them men who were heads of the sons of Israel.

²⁶ they went on and came to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, ^[a]in the wilderness of Paran at ^(A)Kadesh; and they brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.

¹⁹ “Then we set out from ^(A)Horeb, and went through all that ^(B)great and terrible wilderness that you saw on the way to the ^(C)hill country of the Amorites, just as the Lord our God had commanded us; and we came to ^(D)Kadesh-barnea. ²⁰ And I said to you, ‘You have come to the hill country of the Amorites, which the Lord our God is about to give us. ²¹ See, the Lord your God has placed the land before you; go up, take possession, just as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has spoken to you. ^(E)Do not fear or be dismayed.’

²² “^(F)Then all of you approached me and said, ‘Let us send men ahead of us, so that they may spy out the land for us, and bring back to us word of the way by which we should go up, and the cities which we should enter.’ ²³ The ^[a]plan pleased me, and I took twelve of your men, one man for each tribe. ²⁴ Then ^(G)they turned and went up into the hill country, and came to the Valley of Eshcol, and spied it out. ²⁵ And they took some of the fruit of the land in their hands and brought it down to us. They also brought us back a report and said, ‘The land that the Lord our God is about to give us is good.’
