Wind and Wave Obey the Master

²³ As He got into the^[a] boat,^(A) His disciples^(B) followed Him. ²⁴ Suddenly, a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But He was sleeping. ²⁵ So the disciples came and woke Him up, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to die!”

²⁶ But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, you of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea.^(C) And there was a great calm.

²⁷ The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this?—even the winds and the sea obey^(D) Him!”

²² One day He and His disciples got into a boat,^(A) and He told them, “Let’s cross over to the other side of the lake.”^(B) So they set out, ²³ and as they were sailing He fell asleep. Then a fierce windstorm came down on the lake; they were being swamped and were in danger. ²⁴ They came and woke Him up, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to die!” Then He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waves. So they ceased, and there was a calm.^{(C) 25} He said to them, “Where is your faith?”

They were fearful and amazed, asking one another, “Who can this be?^[a](D) He commands even the winds and the waves, and they obey Him!”
