¹¹ “As for me, ^(A)I baptize you ^[a]with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; ^(B)He will baptize you ^[b]with the Holy Spirit and fire.

⁷ And he was ^[a]preaching, saying, “After me One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to bend down and untie the straps of His sandals.

^16 (A)John responded to them all, saying, “As for me, I baptize you with water; but He is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the straps of His sandals; He will baptize you ^[a]with the Holy Spirit and fire.

²⁰ And he confessed and did not deny; and this is what he confessed: “^(A)I am not the ^[a]Christ.”

²⁷ It is ^(A)He who comes after me, of whom I am not worthy even to untie the ^(B)strap of His sandal.”
