23 And Jesus, looking around, *said to His disciples, “(A)How hard it will be for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!” 24 And the disciples (B)were amazed at His words. But Jesus responded again and *said to them, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! 25 (C)It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 And they were even more astonished, and said to Him, “[a]Then who can be saved?” 27 Looking at them, Jesus *said, “(D)With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.”
28 (E)Peter began to say to Him, “Behold, we have left everything and have followed You.” 29 Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, (F)there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake, 30 [b]but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in [c]the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in (G)the age to come, eternal life. 31 But (H)many who are first will be last, and the last, first.”
Jesus’ Sufferings Foretold
32 (I)Now they were on the road going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking on ahead of them; and they (J)were amazed, and those who followed were fearful. And again He took the twelve aside and began to tell them what was going to happen to Him, 33 saying, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and (K)the Son of Man will be [d]handed over to the chief priests and the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and will [e]hand Him over to the Gentiles. 34 And they will mock Him and (L)spit on Him, and flog Him and kill Him; and three days later He will rise from the dead.”
35 [f](M)James and John, the two sons of Zebedee, *came up to [g]Jesus, saying to Him, “Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask of You.” 36 And He said to them, “What do you want Me to do for you?” 37 They said to Him, “[h]Grant that we (N)may sit, one on Your right and one on Your left, in Your glory.” 38 But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able (O)to drink the cup that I drink, or (P)to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” 39 They said to Him, “We are able.” And Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink (Q)you shall drink; and you shall be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized. 40 But to sit on My right or on My left is not Mine to give; (R)but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.”
41 (S)Hearing this, the other ten began to feel indignant with [i]James and John. 42 Calling them to Himself, Jesus *said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles domineer over them; and their [j]people in high position exercise authority over them. 43 But it is not this way among you; (T)rather, whoever wants to become [k]prominent among you shall be your servant; 44 and whoever wants to be first among you shall be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man (U)did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His [l]life as a ransom for many.”
Bartimaeus Receives His Sight
46 (V)Then they *came to Jericho. And later, (W)as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a large crowd, a beggar who was blind named Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the road. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus the (X)Nazarene, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, (Y)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 Many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more, “(Z)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him here.” So they *called the man who was blind, saying to him, “(AA)Take courage, stand up! He is calling for you.” 50 And throwing off his cloak, he jumped up and came to Jesus. 51 And replying to him, Jesus said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” And the man who was blind said to Him, “[m](AB)Rabboni, I want to regain my sight!” 52 And Jesus said to him, “Go; (AC)your faith has [n]made you well.” And immediately he regained his sight and began following Him on the road.

23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich(A) to enter the kingdom of God!”
24 The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is[a] to enter the kingdom of God!(B) 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”(C)
26 The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?”
27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”(D)
28 Then Peter spoke up, “We have left everything to follow you!”(E)
29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much(F) in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come(G) eternal life.(H) 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”(I)
Jesus Predicts His Death a Third Time(J)
32 They were on their way up to Jerusalem, with Jesus leading the way, and the disciples were astonished, while those who followed were afraid. Again he took the Twelve(K) aside and told them what was going to happen to him. 33 “We are going up to Jerusalem,”(L) he said, “and the Son of Man(M) will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law.(N) They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles, 34 who will mock him and spit on him, flog him(O) and kill him.(P) Three days later(Q) he will rise.”(R)
The Request of James and John(S)
35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. “Teacher,” they said, “we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”
36 “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.
37 They replied, “Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.”(T)
38 “You don’t know what you are asking,”(U) Jesus said. “Can you drink the cup(V) I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?”(W)
39 “We can,” they answered.
Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with,(X) 40 but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared.”
41 When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. 42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,(Y) 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,(Z) and to give his life as a ransom for many.”(AA)
Blind Bartimaeus Receives His Sight(AB)
46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth,(AC) he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David,(AD) have mercy on me!”
48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”
So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, “Rabbi,(AE) I want to see.”
52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.”(AF) Immediately he received his sight and followed(AG) Jesus along the road.

27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,
30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
31 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.
32 And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,
33 Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:
34 And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.
35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?

38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
39 And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.
41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.
42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.
48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.
49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
