10 They [a]seized upon [b]that statement, discussing with one another [c]what rising from the dead meant. 11 And they asked Him, saying, “Why is it that the scribes say that (A)Elijah must come first?” 12 And He said to them, “Elijah does come first and he restores all things. And yet how is it written of (B)the Son of Man that (C)He will suffer many things and be treated with contempt?

10 They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what “rising from the dead” meant.
11 And they asked him, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”
12 Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man(A) must suffer much(B) and be rejected?(C)
