The Triumphal Entry

11 (A)And as they *approached Jerusalem, at Bethphage and (B)Bethany, near (C)the Mount of Olives, He *sent two of His disciples, and *said to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here. And if anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ you say, ‘The Lord has need of it’; and immediately he [a]will send it back here.” And they went away and found a colt tied at the door, outside in the street; and they *untied it. And some of the bystanders were saying to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” And they spoke to them just as Jesus had told them, and they gave them permission. (D)And they *brought the colt to Jesus and put their garments on it; and He sat on it. And many spread their garments in the road, and others spread leafy branches, having cut them from the fields. And those who went in front and those who followed were shouting:

“Hosanna!
(E)Blessed is He who comes in the name of the [b]Lord;
10 Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David;
Hosanna (F)in the highest!”

The Triumphal Entry

21 (A)And when they had approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, at (B)the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to Me. And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.” (C)And this [a]took place in order that what was spoken through the prophet would be fulfilled, saying,

(D)Say to the daughter of Zion,
Behold your King is coming to you,
Lowly, and mounted on a donkey,
And on a colt, the foal of a pack animal.’”

And the disciples went and did just as Jesus had instructed them, and brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their garments on them; and He sat on [b]the garments. And most of the crowd (E)spread their garments in the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them in the road. And the crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were crying out, saying,

“Hosanna to the (F)Son of David;
(G)Blessed is He who comes in the name of the [c]Lord;
Hosanna (H)in the highest!”

29 (A)And it happened that when He approached Bethphage and (B)Bethany, near the mount called “of (C)Olives,” He sent two of the disciples, 30 saying, “Go into the village ahead of you; in which, as you enter, you will find a colt tied, on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here. 31 And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this: ‘Because the Lord has need of it.’” 32 So when those who were sent departed, they found it just as He had told them. 33 And as they were untying the colt, its [a]owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 And they said, “The Lord has need of it.” 35 And they brought it to Jesus, (D)and after they threw their garments on the colt, they put Jesus on it. 36 And as He was going, they were spreading their garments on the road. 37 Now as soon as He was approaching, near the descent of (E)the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to (F)praise God, rejoicing with a loud voice for all the [b]miracles which they had seen, 38 saying,

(G)Blessed is the (H)King who comes in the name of the [c]Lord.
Peace in heaven and (I)glory in the highest!”
