Luke 10:10-12 New English Translation

¹⁰But whenever^[a] you enter a town^[b] and the people^[c] do not welcome^[d] you, go into its streets^[e] and say, ¹¹‘Even the dust of your town^[f] that clings to our feet we wipe off^[g] against you.^[h] Nevertheless know this: The kingdom of God has come.’^[i] ¹²I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom^[j] than for that town!^[k]

The allusion to God’s judgment on these cities is not intended to indicate that they might be shown mercy on the day of judgment, but to warn that rejecting the messengers with their current message about the coming kingdom is even more serious than the worst sins of Sodom and Gomorrah and will result in even more severe punishment.
