¹⁷ Now the five men who went to spy out the land went up and entered there; they took ^(A)the carved image, the ephod, the ^[a]household idols, and the cast metal image, while the priest was standing at the entrance of the gate with the six hundred men armed with weapons of war. ¹⁸ When these men entered Micah’s house and took the carved image, the ephod, ^[b]household idols, and the cast metal image, the priest said to them, “What are you doing?”

²⁴ And he said, “You have taken my gods which I made, and the priest, and have gone away; what more do I have? So how can you say to me, ‘What is the matter with you?’”

²¹ And the Philistines abandoned their idols there, so ^(A)David and his men carried them away.

¹² And ^[a]I shall set fire to the temples of the ^(A)gods of Egypt, and he will burn them and take them captive. So he will ^[b](B)wrap himself with the land of Egypt as a shepherd ^[c]wraps himself with his garment, and he will depart from there safely. ¹³ He will also smash to pieces the ^[d]obelisks of ^[e]Heliopolis, which is in the land of Egypt; and the temples of the gods of Egypt he will burn with fire.”’”
