^14 (A)Then the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and He handed them over to plunderers, and they plundered them; and ^(B)He sold them into the hands of their enemies around them, so that they could no longer stand ^[a]against their enemies. ¹⁵ Wherever they went, the hand of the Lord was against them for ^[b]evil, as the Lord had spoken and ^(C)just as the Lord had sworn to them, so that they were severely distressed.

^16 (D)Then the Lord raised up judges ^[c]who saved them from the hands of those who plundered them.

⁹ But ^(A)they forgot the Lord their God, so ^(B)He sold them into the hand of Sisera, commander of the army of Hazor, and ^(C)into the hand of the Philistines, and ^(D)into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them. ^10 (E)They cried out to the Lord and said, ‘We have sinned, because we have abandoned the Lord and have served ^(F)the Baals and the Ashtaroth; but ^(G)now save us from the hands of our enemies, and we will serve You.’ ¹¹ Then the Lord sent ^(H)Jerubbaal, ^[a](I)Bedan, ^(J)Jephthah, and ^(K)Samuel, and saved you from the hands of your enemies all around, so that you lived in security.
