⁴⁸ Then ^(A)heaven and earth and everything that is in them
Will shout for joy over Babylon,
Because ^(B)the destroyers will come to her from the north,”
Declares the Lord.

⁵³ Though Babylon ^(A)ascends to the heavens,
And though she fortifies ^[a]her lofty stronghold,
Destroyers will come from ^(B)Me to her,” declares the Lord.

⁸ Since you have ^(A)looted many nations,
All the rest of the peoples will loot you—
Because of human bloodshed and violence ^[a]done to the land,
To the town and all its inhabitants.
