38 A [a](A)drought on her waters, and they will be dried up!
For it is a land of (B)idols,
And they go insane at frightful images.
39 “Therefore the (C)desert creatures will live there with the jackals;
The ostriches also will live in it.
It will (D)never again be inhabited
Nor lived in from generation to generation.
40 As when God overthrew (E)Sodom
And Gomorrah with its neighbors,” declares the Lord,
“No one will live there,
Nor will [b]anyone of mankind reside in it.

idols that will go mad with terror.
39 “So desert creatures(D) and hyenas will live there,
and there the owl will dwell.
It will never again be inhabited
or lived in from generation to generation.(E)
40 As I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah(F)
along with their neighboring towns,”
declares the Lord,
“so no one will live there;
no people will dwell in it.(G)
