⁶ Therefore ^(A)a lion from the forest will strike them down;
A ^(B)wolf of the deserts will devastate them;
A ^(C)leopard is watching their cities.
Everyone who goes out of them will be torn in pieces
Because their ^(D)transgressions are many;
Their acts of faithlessness are mighty.

¹⁴ For I will be ^(A)like a lion to Ephraim
And like a young lion to the house of Judah.
^(B)I, even I, will tear to pieces and go away;
I will carry away, and there will be ^(C)none to deliver.

⁷ So I will be ^(A)like a lion to them;
Like a ^(B)leopard I will ^[a]lie in wait by the wayside.
⁸ I will encounter them ^(C)like a bear robbed of her cubs,
And I will tear open ^[b]the chest enclosing their heart;
There I will also ^(D)devour them like a lioness,
As a beast of the field would rip them open.
