³ and send ^[a]word to the king of ^(A)Edom, the king of ^(B)Moab, the king of the sons of ^(C)Ammon, the king of ^(D)Tyre, and to the king of ^(E)Sidon ^[b]by the messengers who come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah.

Hananiah’s False Prophecy

28 Now in the same year, ^(A)in the beginning of the reign of ^(B)Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, ^(C)Hananiah the prophet the son of Azzur, who was from ^(D)Gibeon, spoke to me at the house of the Lord in the sight of the priests and all the people, saying,

¹⁷ So Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “This is what the Lord ^(A)God of armies, the ^(B)God of Israel says: ‘If you will indeed ^(C)surrender to the officers of the king of Babylon, then ^[a]you will live, this city will not be burned with fire, and you and your household will ^[b]survive.
