⁶ So I gave orders to ^(A)bring into my presence all the wise men of Babylon, so that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream. ⁷ Then the ^(B)soothsayer priests, the sorcerers, the ^[a]Chaldeans, and the diviners came in and I related the dream ^[b]to them, but they could not make its ^(C)interpretation known to me.

¹¹ There is a ^(A)man in your kingdom in whom is ^[a]a ^(B)spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father, illumination, insight, and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods were found in him. And King Nebuchadnezzar, your father—your father ^[b](C)the king—appointed him chief of the soothsayer priests, sorcerers, Chaldeans, and diviners.

¹⁵ Just now the ^(A)wise men and the sorcerers were brought in before me to read this inscription and make its interpretation known to me, but they ^(B)could not declare the interpretation of the ^[a]message.
