24 Therefore, (A)as a tongue of fire consumes stubble,
And dry grass collapses in the flame,
So their (B)root will become (C)like rot, and their blossom [a]blow away like dust;
For they have (D)rejected the Law of the Lord of armies,
And discarded the word of the Holy One of Israel.

24 Therefore, as tongues of fire(A) lick up straw(B)
and as dry grass sinks down in the flames,
so their roots will decay(C)
and their flowers blow away like dust;(D)
for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty
and spurned the word(E) of the Holy One(F) of Israel.

11 Get out of the way, (A)turn aside from the path,
(B)Stop speaking before us about the Holy One of Israel!”

12 Therefore this is what the Holy One of Israel says:

(C)Since you have rejected this word
And have put your trust in (D)oppression and crookedness, and have relied on them,
13 Therefore this (E)wrongdoing will be to you
Like a (F)breach about to fall,

Whose collapse comes (G)suddenly in an instant,

    relied on oppression(F)
    and depended on deceit,
13 this sin will become for you
like a high wall,(G) cracked and bulging,
that collapses(H) suddenly,(I) in an instant.
14 It will break in pieces like pottery,(J)
    shattered so mercilessly
that among its pieces not a fragment will be found
for taking coals from a hearth
or scooping water out of a cistern.”

15 This is what the Sovereign(K) Lord, the Holy One(L) of Israel, says:

“In repentance and rest(M) is your salvation,
in quietness and trust(N) is your strength,
but you would have none of it.(O)
