20 For the bed is too short to stretch out on,
And the covering so narrow that one cannot wrap himself in it.
21 For the Lord will rise up as at Mount (A)Perazim,
He will be angry as in the Valley of (B)Gibeon—
That He may do His work, (C)His awesome work,
And bring to pass His act, His [a]unusual act.
22 Now therefore, do not be mockers,
Lest your bonds be made strong;
For I have heard from the Lord God of hosts,
(D)A [b]destruction determined even upon the whole earth.

20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.

21 For the Lord shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.

22 Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord God of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.

    and the covering too narrow to wrap oneself in.
21 For the Lord will rise up (A)as on Mount Perazim;
    (B)as in the Valley of (C)Gibeon he will be roused;
to do his deed—strange is his deed!
    and to work his work—alien is his work!
22 Now therefore do not (D)scoff,
    lest your bonds be made strong;
for I have heard (E)a decree of destruction
    from the Lord God of hosts against the whole land.

20 The bed is too short on which to stretch out,
And the (A)blanket is too [a]small to wrap oneself in.
21 For the Lord will rise up as at Mount (B)Perazim,
He will be stirred up as in the Valley of (C)Gibeon,
To do His (D)task, His [b](E)unusual task,
And to work His work, His [c]extraordinary work.
22 And now do not carry on as (F)scoffers,
Or your shackles will be made stronger;
For I have heard from the Lord [d]God of armies
Of decisive (G)destruction on all the earth.
