8 (A)Gilead is a city of wrongdoers,
Tracked with (B)bloody footprints.
9 And as a (C)band of robbers lie in wait for a person,
So a band of priests (D)murder on the way to Shechem;
Certainly they have committed an act of (E)infamy.
10 In the house of Israel I have seen a (F)horrible thing;
Ephraim’s (G)infidelity is there, Israel has defiled itself.

8 Gilead is a city of evildoers,(A)
stained with footprints of blood.
9 As marauders lie in ambush for a victim,(B)
so do bands of priests;
they murder(C) on the road to Shechem,
carrying out their wicked schemes.(D)
10 I have seen a horrible(E) thing in Israel:
There Ephraim is given to prostitution,
Israel is defiled.(F)
