7 But they said, “The man specifically asked about us and our relatives, saying, ‘(A)Is your father still alive? Have you another brother?’ So we [a]answered his questions. Could we possibly know that he would say, ‘Bring your brother down’?” 8 So Judah said to his father Israel, “Send the boy with me and we will arise and go, (B)so that we may live and not die, we as well as you and our little ones. 9 (C)I myself will take responsibility for him! You may demand him back from [b]me. If I do not bring him back to you and present him to you, then [c]you can let me take the blame forever.

7 They replied, “The man questioned us closely about ourselves and our family. ‘Is your father still living?’(A) he asked us. ‘Do you have another brother?’(B) We simply answered his questions. How were we to know he would say, ‘Bring your brother down here’?”(C)
8 Then Judah(D) said to Israel(E) his father, “Send the boy along with me and we will go at once, so that we and you and our children may live and not die.(F) 9 I myself will guarantee his safety; you can hold me personally responsible for him.(G) If I do not bring him back to you and set him here before you, I will bear the blame(H) before you all my life.(I)
