² So Jacob said to his ^(A)household and to all who were with him, “Remove ^(B)the foreign gods which are among you, and ^(C)purify yourselves and change your garments;

“We Will Serve the Lord”

¹⁴ “Now, therefore, ^[a](A)fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and ^[b]truth; and do away with the gods which your fathers served beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.

²³ “Now then, do away with the foreign gods which are in your midst, and ^(A)incline your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

^16 (A)So they removed the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord; and ^[a](B)He could no longer endure the misery of Israel.
