¹⁹ For I have ^[a](A)chosen him, so that he may ^(B)command his children and his household after him to ^(C)keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring upon Abraham ^(D)what He has spoken about him.”

¹⁰ Remember the day you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb, when the Lord said to me, ‘Assemble the people to Me, that I may have them hear My words ^(A)so that they may learn to ^[a]fear Me all the days that they live on the earth, and that they may ^(B)teach their children.’

⁷ And ^(A)you shall repeat them diligently to your sons and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down, and when you get up.

²⁰ “^(A)When your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What do the provisions and the statutes and the judgments mean which the Lord our God commanded you?’ ²¹ then you shall say to your son, ‘We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand. ²² Moreover, the Lord provided great and terrible signs and wonders before our eyes against Egypt, Pharaoh, and all his household; ²³ He brought us out of there in order to bring us in, to give us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.’ ²⁴ So the Lord commanded us to ^[a]follow all these statutes, ^(B)to fear the Lord our God for our own good always and ^(C)for our survival, as it is today. ²⁵ And ^(D)it will be righteousness for us if we are careful to ^[b]follow all this commandment before the Lord our God, just as He commanded us.

^19 (A)You shall also teach them to your sons, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up.

⁴⁶ he said to them, “^(A)Take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you will command ^(B)your sons to ^[a]follow carefully, all the words of this Law.

^4 (A)Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but ^(B)bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
