Ezra 9:8-9

8 But now for a brief moment grace has been shown from the Lord our God, (A)to leave us an escaped remnant and to give us a [a](B)peg in His holy place, so that our God may (C)enlighten our eyes and grant us a little reviving in our bondage. 9 (D)For we are slaves; yet in our bondage our God has not abandoned us, but (E)has extended favor to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us reviving to erect the house of our God, to restore its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.

8 “But now, for a brief moment, the Lord our God has been gracious(A) in leaving us a remnant(B) and giving us a firm place[a](C) in his sanctuary, and so our God gives light to our eyes(D) and a little relief in our bondage. 9 Though we are slaves,(E) our God has not forsaken us in our bondage. He has shown us kindness(F) in the sight of the kings of Persia: He has granted us new life to rebuild the house of our God and repair its ruins,(G) and he has given us a wall of protection in Judah and Jerusalem.
