17 This is what the Lord says: “(A)By this you shall know that I am the Lord: behold, I am going to strike [a]the water that is in the Nile with the staff that is in my hand, and (B)it will be turned into blood. 18 Then (C)the fish that are in the Nile will die, the Nile will stink, and the Egyptians will [b](D)no longer be able to drink water from the Nile.”’” 19 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and (E)extend your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their [c]streams, over their pools, and over all their reservoirs of water, so that they may become blood; and there will be blood through all the land of Egypt, both in containers of wood and in containers of stone.’”
20 So Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded. And he lifted up [d](F)the staff and struck the water that was in the Nile in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants; and (G)all the water that was in the Nile was turned into blood. 21 Then the fish that were in the Nile died, and the Nile stank, so that the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile. And the blood was through all the land of Egypt.

17 This is what the Lord says: By this you will know that I am the Lord:(A) With the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will be changed into blood.(B) 18 The fish in the Nile will die, and the river will stink;(C) the Egyptians will not be able to drink its water.’”(D)
19 The Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff(E) and stretch out your hand(F) over the waters of Egypt—over the streams and canals, over the ponds and all the reservoirs—and they will turn to blood.’ Blood will be everywhere in Egypt, even in vessels[a] of wood and stone.”
20 Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded.(G) He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile,(H) and all the water was changed into blood.(I) 21 The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. Blood was everywhere in Egypt.

8 The second angel sounded, and something like a great (A)mountain burning with fire was hurled into the sea; and (B)a third of the (C)sea became blood, 9 and (D)a third of the creatures which were in the sea [a]and had life, died; and a third of the (E)ships were destroyed.
10 The third angel sounded, and a great star (F)fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a (G)third of the rivers and on the (H)springs of waters. 11 The star is named Wormwood; and a (I)third of the waters became (J)wormwood, and many people died from the waters because they were made bitter.
12 The fourth angel sounded, and a (K)third of the (L)sun, a third of the (M)moon, and a (N)third of the (O)stars were struck, so that a (P)third of them would be darkened and the day would not shine for a (Q)third of it, and the night in the same way.
13 Then I looked, and I heard [b]an eagle flying in (R)midheaven, saying with a loud voice, “(S)Woe, woe, woe to (T)those who live on the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the (U)three angels who are about to sound!”

8 The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain,(A) all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third(B) of the sea turned into blood,(C) 9 a third(D) of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
10 The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky(E) on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water(F)— 11 the name of the star is Wormwood.[a] A third(G) of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.(H)
12 The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third(I) of them turned dark.(J) A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.(K)
13 As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair(L) call out in a loud voice: “Woe! Woe! Woe(M) to the inhabitants of the earth,(N) because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!”
